Welcome to Roys Drive School of Motoring!

Learning to drive is an exciting and important step towards independence. At Roys Drive School of Motoring, I offer friendly, patient and professional manual driving lessons, helping learners develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to become safe and responsible drivers.

With many years of driving experience and a background as an experienced LGV and PCV instructor, I bring a wealth of professional knowledge and understanding to every lesson.

I am a PASS+ certified instructor, committed to providing supportive, structured tuition tailored to each learner's individual needs and ability.

Learning Objectives

By the end of your driving lessons, you will aim to:

Develop confidence and control when driving a manual car.
Understand road signs, markings and traffic regulations.
Master clutch control, gears, steering and vehicle positioning.
Learn essential manoeuvres, including parking and reversing.
Develop hazard awareness and safe decision-making skills.
Gain experience driving on different types of roads and in varying traffic conditions.
Prepare thoroughly for your practical driving test.

Every learner is different, so lessons are adapted to suit your experience, confidence and learning pace.

Whether you are a complete beginner, returning to driving after a break or preparing for your practical test, you will receive patient guidance and constructive feedback throughout your learning journey.

Lessons will cover everything from the basics of operating a manual vehicle to more advanced driving skills and real-world road experience.

Hi, I'm Roy, your local driving instructor based in Upminster, Essex.

I'm 59 and bring many years of professional driving and instructional experience, including LGV and PCV tuition. I'm now focusing on manual car driving lessons.

I'm friendly, patient and approachable, and I enjoy helping people gain confidence, develop their driving skills and achieve their goal of passing their test.

My aim is simple: to help you become a safe, confident driver for life.
